About the Hike:
An enormous clearing near its summit gives Pine Mountain a very beautiful view of Lake Winnipesaukee. Located in the Forest Society's Morse Preserve, the Arlene Frances Morse Trail provides a short, easy route to the top. From the parking area, walk further down the road (to the south) a few hundred yards to the Forest Society sign and trailhead, on the left. The trail first follows an old road through the forest and crosses fields a few times. It then ascends through the clearing, passing another trail on the right, to a knoll northwest of the summit. As you ascend, the view to the west will open up behind you. The view over Lake Winnipesaukee is stunning. The Belknap Range looms high above nearby to the northwest, while behind the lake are the Ossipee Mountains, and in the distance, the Sandwich Range. A view guide points out the mountains.
